Most Common Air Conditioning Repairs

If you’re experiencing AC troubles, don’t fear the worst. Most problems are easy to correct when they’re caught early. At All Knight Heating & Air, we perform these common air conditioning repairs for residents of Indio and Coachella.

Low Refrigerant Levels

Undercharged air conditioners run longer and cost more to operate. This problem could be caused by improper refrigerant levels, worn seals, damaged valves or corrosion-related leaks. Eventually, the system’s internal controls may disable the unit to prevent further damage. Our technicians use specialized sensors to pinpoint refrigerant leaks. Once the area is repaired, we will charge the system to factory specifications.

Faulty Reversing Valves

If you own a heat pump, you might be familiar with the reversing valve. When this component malfunctions, the system won’t switch between heating and cooling modes. It also creates pressure imbalances. When our customers have an air conditioner with these symptoms, we determine whether the valve is faulty or if there’s an underlying electrical issue.

Dirty Evaporator or Condenser Coils

Indoor and outdoor AC coils are susceptible to dirt and dust that infiltrate the fins and prevent heat from being transferred. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, dirty condenser coils shorten the equipment’s lifespan and increase energy consumption by 30 percent. A thorough cleaning during a seasonal tuneup or repair visit will lower your energy bills while preventing ice buildup and overheating.

Failing Capacitors

These small components perform a big job. They provide the initial surge of power needed to start your air conditioner. They also regulate the amount of incoming energy while the system runs. If your air conditioner hums, struggles to start or shuts down frequently, replacing the capacitor could solve the problem. Similar issues occur if the contactor has failed.

You can prevent the majority of service calls by completing seasonal maintenance. If you’re still experiencing problems, take a moment to learn about our air conditioning repairs, or call (760) 772-4947 to make an appointment. Our NATE-certified technicians service HVAC equipment from all brands.
